In August Black United Fund of Texas joined the American Caribbean Chamber of Commerce to aid the people in Haiti affected by the earthquake and the flood. This effort was launched to provide resources and meet the necessary needs to help protect the people who now are being exposed to the raw elements due to the aftermath of the flood and earthquake. Recognizing that we must respond and not react to this crisis, we approached the solutions with determination.
Now we are faced with thousands of people flocking to Texas for asylum from a country falling apart due to natural disaster and a coup d’état.
Going forward we look to the future when the people can either return home or find a life in the US. As Haiti struggles to recover from the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti and those who settled under the Texas crossing, the crisis grows daily, and we are looking to work closely to assist where we can and provide the essentials to make them comfortable and safe. We are collaborating with Diplomats to ensure things will run with discretion and prudence.
Below are some of the needs of the people:

Clothes: women, men & children (Haitian’s women tend to be petite)
Shoes & tennis
Baby Diapers, to Depends
Baby Food
Non-Perishable Food Items
Feminine Hygiene Products
Water Filtration
Walkers and Crutches
Sleeping bags
Blankets, Pillows
Toiletries (toothpaste & toothbrushes adults & children)
