Winter Storm Relief Fund
With this winter storm being an unforeseen natural disaster, many in the communities we serves will find it difficult to get back on their feet. Please help us continue to serve senior citizens and vulnerable families that have been impacted by this winter storm. Please follow us on Instagram @buftx to see how your donation has made a difference. #ShowNProve!
In the wake of the unprecedented Texas Winter Storm, we are working with U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, State Representative Jarvis Johnson, the Office of the Mayor of Houston and a network of local community organizations to get resources and help to senior citizens and vulnerable families. Many of the homes in our Historic Black & Latinx Communities have suffered damages due to the severity of the storm.
Water to Communities
Since Friday February 19, 2021 we have helped distribute 50 pallets of water to vulnerable communities in Houston through a network of community based organizations and volunteers.
It is unfortunate that more than a month after Winter Storm Uri there are some residents still without water. We have been working with residents in 3rd Ward to get them water to help them with their daily needs. We thank Humi Rooth-Jackson for her leadership on this effort. For more information how you can aid in helping residents in 3rd Ward please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Feeding Senior Citizens & Vulnerable Families
Saturday February 20, 2021 we worked with U.S. Congresswoman Shelia Jackson-Lee, State Representative Jarvis Johnson, the Office of the Mayor of Houston and the Independence Heights Redevelopment Corporation to get hot meals and water to seniors and families in the Independence Heights Community. Thanks to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, A&K Cakes on the run & Catfish Station for providing meals and The Teamsters & National Association of Christian Churches for providing the hot meals. Through our network of community organizations, we have fed over 2,000 Houstonians.
We have partnered with Loyalty Life Legacy, Galighticus and A.N.P.U Feed to provide food and supplies to seniors and families across Houston and in 3rd Ward. Through this partnership have provided financial aid to 25 families.
Help Bring Water to Houston
We have also partnered with McNeill Ripple to help bring and satisfy the lack of clean water in Houston.
If you don’t have the financial resources available, but you still want to help, consider volunteering with us. Our partners have collection and distribution locations around Houston.
